UPSC CDS Physical Standards

  • Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to the Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2024 The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157 cm.
  • For the Navy candidates height is 157 cm, for the Air Force is 162.5 and for female candidates is 152 cm.
  • Gorkhas and candidates belonging to the Hills of the North Eastern region of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, required a minimum height is 152 cm.
  • Tribals from the Ladhakh Region and Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands' and Extra talented sports candidates minimum required rights is 155 Cm
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) should be below 25.
  • The ratio of the waist and hip should be below 0.9 for males and 0.8 for females.
  • Waist Circumference should be less than 90 cm for males and 80 cm for females.

UPSC CDS Exam 2024 Selection Procedure

The recruitment of AFA, IMA, INA & Officers Training Academy posts will be conducted based on:
  • 1. Written Exam
  • 2. SSB Interview/Personality Test
  • 3. Document Verification
  • 4. Medical Examination
Written Examination: Candidates must first qualify in the written examination, which comprises multiple-choice questions and tests their knowledge in subjects such as English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. The written exam is held separately for each academy.

Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who pass the written examination are shortlisted for the interview/personality test conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). 
This stage evaluates candidates’ officer-like qualities, leadership skills, and suitability for a career in the defense forces. The interview/personality test includes various tasks, group discussions, and personal interviews.

Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must submit their original documents for verification, including educational certificates, age proof, and other relevant documents.

Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the interview/personality test undergo a thorough medical examination conducted by a Military Hospital to assess their medical fitness. The medical examination ensures that candidates meet military service’s physical and medical standards.

Final Merit List: The final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in the written examination, interview/personality test, and medical examination. A merit list is prepared, and candidates are allotted seats in the respective academies based on their ranks and preferences.

UPSC CDS 2 2024 Exam Pattern

The candidates have to clear CDS Written Examination to get selected for the interview round. Check the exam pattern for each position below.

• There will be Multiple-Choice Questions in each paper
• The question paper for General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set in Hindi as well as in English.
• There will be a penalty of 1/3 marks for a wrong answer
• Duration of each exam is separate i.e. 2 hours.
